Small town family, Mollie, Will, Abigail, and Owen Smiley and Briar

Urbanna is an old historic town on the Rappahannock River. Its a small town with a big heart. As a family we try to eat local, grow as much food as we can in our own yard, try to raise children with an ecological identity, play hard, exercise, explore our area, fish, ride bikes, swim, and snuggle

FOOD!

All of our salad greens with broccoli on the right

The end of the chard with basil in the middle

carrots

Garlic!!

Sugar Snap Peas in the middle of the yard

Chard growing around the base of the peas

Beans starting to climb
We have lots of food growing everywhere. The garden is really looking great. All of our hard work is paying us back tenfold.  The kids love being in the garden when we are collecting things for dinner. It is great having the sugar snap peas in the middle of the yard. Abigail and Owen walk by all the time and pull one off and eat one. Edible Landscape!

  1. We were thinking about putting in a blueberry bush as well this year. We cut down an ugly bush and tried to stick to native plants as much as possible. I'm a little jealous of your long garden season. We just put our stuff in the ground and you guys are way ahead of us. Enjoy.
